Welcome to the Off-Campus Housing Resource Center With over 4,600 students enrolled at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, and 1,700 (approx.) living on-campus, there is a strong need and desire to provide our college community with off-campus housing alternatives. This site is designed to be a resource to connect both tenants and landlords. In keeping up with the times and new technological trends, Behrend is pleased to announce that we have partnered with BrainWebs Housing Registry System to provide landlords and tenants easy access to information regarding off-campus housing. Landlords and agents may now list, maintain, and remove rental offerings directly through a web interface program. Rental properties may be listed for a period of 30 days before renewal is required. This keeps rental information up-to-date for potential tenants. Behrend students, faculty and staff may now search on-line for available rental properties near the campus. In the new on-line system tenants may also subscribe to a "wait list" which will send an immediate notification as new properties are listed, thus keeping you up-to date on available rental units. Penn State Behrend recognizes that off-campus students are an integral part of the campus community, therefore we are providing an Off-Campus Housing Resource Manual to assist you with finding and enjoying off-campus housing in the Erie area. In this manual you will discover helpful information regarding the choice of a dwelling, the signing of a lease, your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, or any number of other issues pertaining to rentals in Pennsylvania. This manual is intended to serve as a resource for you. The legal information contained here is offered in summary form and is intended to serve as a general guide to students renting in Pennsylvania. It is not intended as a substitute for professional advise and/or counseling from an attorney. Although the Division of Student Affairs facilitates the sharing of information regarding living units, off-campus dwellings have not been inspected by Penn State Behrend, and the college does not take responsibility for the facilities listed. Should you need assistance, as a tenant or landlord, in navigating this site and its information, please call or visit the Division of Student Affairs, located on the second floor of the Reed Union Building. We would be happy to assist you. Mary Trott Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. |
