Robert D. Metzgar ’60

Robert D. Metzgar ’60Robert D. Metzgar ’60 is owner and president of Warren-based North Penn Pipe and Supply, Inc., a wholesale supplier of materials, goods, and services to oil and gas exploration companies and industrial suppliers.

In July 2008, Metzgar and his wife, Sally Nelson Metzgar, committed $2 million to Penn State Behrend for the creation of the two-story Robert and Sally Metzgar Admissions and Alumni Center. The facility, completed in 2010, houses the college’s admissions, financial aid, registrar, bursar, and alumni relations offices.

Metzgar is a University Trustee and member of the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows, which is composed of community and business leaders who advise the college’s administrators on issues related to economic development and regional need. He currently serves on the boards of the New York Oil and Gas Association, Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Association, West Warren Industries, and Conewango Valley Country Club.

Metzgar attended Penn State Behrend for two years and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from the University Park campus. He also pursued post-graduate work in business at the University. He is a member of the Laurel Circle, Mount Nittany Society, Glenhill Society, Nittany Lion Club, and a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association. Metzgar also gave the fall 2008 Penn State Behrend commencement address.

Metzgar resides in Warren, Pennsylvania. He and his late wife, Sally, are the parents of two children: a son, Kelly ’78, and a daughter, Kathy Metzgar Lang ’83, ’84. Their grandsons, Kyle Metzgar and Andrew Lang, also graduated from Penn State.
