Behrend Lions Junior Jon Gray Leads D3 in Batting Average at .548

Penn State Behrend's Jon Gray (State College/State College) is atop the Division III baseball leaders in batting average per the release of the most recent NCAA Statistics on Tuesday, April 7.

Gray, a junior outfielder, is hitting .548 (40-for-73) through games of April 5. He also has scored a team high 31 runs and stole 10-of-11 bases. Gray also ranks second in on base percentage with a mark of .643.  Gray, a two-time All-Conference performer has knocked six doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs. Gray is close to breaking into Behrend's all-time top-ten for career hits, runs, and stolen bases.

The Behrend Lions enter the top ten in hitting with a team batting average of .378.  This mark puts the blue and white fourth among Division III schools. 

Behrend closer, Ryan Smith (Franklin, PA/Franklin), is ranked sixth in saves with six saves.  Smith is Behrend's all-time saves leader tallying 19 saves over four seasons.

Next up for the blue and white will be an AMCC double-header on Saturday, April 11, at the Behrend diamond when the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (13-10, 7-5) travel to Erie.
