Behrend Lions Water Polo Picks Up Thrilling Overtime Win at Division III Eastern Championships

Behrend men's water polo secured a 13-12 overtime victory over Connecticut College (0-15) on Saturday, October 21 in game two of the Division III Eastern Championships.  Behrend came into the tournament as the number-four seed and defeated the fifth-seeded Camels on freshman Derek Sieber's (Erie/McDowell) game-winner with a minute thirty seven remaining in overtime.

Leading Behrend to their first win of the season was Andre Pranckevicius (Miami, FL/Miami Beach) who scored four goals, including two in the fourth quarter. Sieber chipped in three and Anthony Spoto (Birmingham, MI/Seaholm) added a pair. Sophomore A.J. Briccetti led Connecticut with five goals.

Between the pipes for Behrend, senior goalkeeper Leandro Azevedo (Miami, FL/Miami Beach) allowed four goals and tallied six saves.  Azevedo is currently ranked second in the nation in saves per game, with 11.7.

Behrend (1-12) is set to square off against Johns Hopkins in game four of the tournament slated for 4:00 p.m. The Blue Jays, a 15-4 winner over Connecticut in game one, enters the contest with an 11-12 record. Then the loser of game three plays the third team in bracket A at 7:00 p.m. followed by the winner of game three battling the second team in bracket A at 8:30 p.m.
