Darren Williams, professor of astronomy and astrophysics at Penn State Behrend, will discuss the science behind black holes on Sept. 5 when Open House Night in Astronomy returns to Penn State Behrend.
The Young People’s Chorus of Erie, a youth outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend, will hold open rehearsals next month for its 2019-20 season. Open rehearsals give young people between the ages of 7 and 18 the opportunity to attend a rehearsal, meet the staff and learn about YPC Erie.

This year's ERIE Conference at Penn State Behrend focused on automation and artificial intelligence in the workplace. "It's tempting to think that technological change is just something that happens to us," said Ethan Pollack, the keynote speaker. Sally Nelson Metzgar, a longtime supporter of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, and its students, died July 19, at the age of 83. The Metzgar Center at Penn State Behrend is named for Sally Metzgar and her husband, Bob Metzgar.
Penn State Behrend's literary journal, "Lake Effect," is published every spring. The 2019 edition includes poetry, fiction and literary nonfiction selected and edited by Behrend students and faculty members.
