Unicorns, cyclopes and bearded women – they’re all part of the worlds that fiction author Teresa Milbrodt creates.
Milbrodt will read excerpts from her fantastical short stories when the Creative Writers Reading Series returns to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College on March 30. Her 6 p.m. reading and the reception that will precede it are free and open to the public. Both events will be held in the Larry and Kathryn Smith Chapel.
Milbrodt is the author of the short story collection “Bearded Women: Stories” and the flash fiction collection “Larissa Takes Flight: Stories. She has published the novel “The Patron Saint of Unattractive People,” and her second novel, “The Unicorn Maker,” is forthcoming from Break Away Books.
Milbrodt has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and her work has appeared in several literary magazines, including Nimrod, Triquarterly, North American Review, Crazyhorse, The Cream City Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, CutBank and Sycamore Review. She currently lives and writes in Columbia, Missouri, where she is earning her doctorate in English from the University of Missouri.
