AJ Nichols, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, pitched a complete game against Penn State Altoona, allowing just one earned run. She was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference pitcher of the week.

ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s softball team rocked Medaille with a 12-run first inning. The Lions hit three triples, three doubles and three singles in the inning.

Allania Banta, a senior from Waterford, hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth in the first game against Medaille. In the nightcap, the Lions scored 12 runs in the first inning.

Men’s golf

Sixth (of eight teams) at the Gannon Spring Invitational

Ryan Matlock, a junior from Erie, tied for fifth with a team-low score of 75.

Men’s tennis

Franciscan 5, Penn State Behrend 0 (AMCC Championship)

Brent McFarland, a sophomore from Austinburg, Ohio, had the lone win against Allegheny. He took the No. 4 singles match in a tiebreaker, winning 6-2, 0-6, 10-5.

Men’s track and field

Kurt Eberhardt, a freshman from Gibsonia, won the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles at the Behrend Invitational. Mitchell Obenrader, a senior from Fryburg, won the shot put and discus.

Women’s track and field

Paige Allen, a senior from Butler, won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and the long jump at the Behrend Invitational. Myeisha Sanders, a freshman from Erie, won the shot put, discus and hammer throw.

Women’s water polo

Mercyhurst 12, Penn State Behrend 7

Grove City 6, Penn State Behrend 4

Penn State Behrend 7, Utica 4

Lauren Wood, a sophomore from Vernon Hills, Illinois, scored three goals on five shots against Mercyhurst. She also had an assist and a steal.
