Star of Broadway musical 'Rent' to perform with students at Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa. — Wilson Jermaine Heredia, the actor who portrayed Angel in the original Broadway performance of “Rent,” will perform a special concert with students at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, this week.

The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the college’s Studio Theatre. Together with student cast members from Penn State Behrend’s upcoming spring production of "Rent," Heredia will perform selections from the Tony Award-winning rock musical and other works.

During his visit, Heredia will also instruct the Behrend cast as part of a master class. The class, which will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, also is free and open to the public for observation.

In addition to his breakthrough role as Angel, Heredia has guest-starred on popular televisions shows, including “Without a Trace,” “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Blindspot.” He recently completed filming the independent film “The Rainbow Bridge Motel.”

The Penn State Behrend production of “Rent” opens Thursday, April 12, at the college’s Studio Theatre. It continues April 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 with performances each night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale soon at the Student Activities Desk in the Reed Union Building.
