Students in Penn State Behrend's Innovation Commons idea lab have provided 3D printing, product design, CAD assistance and consulting on more than 50 business projects. The model will expand to three other labs, thanks to grant funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Ignite Erie Industry+University Business Acceleration Collaborative.

Wes Hall invents Lace-N-Lock device

Wes Hall, a 2017 graduate of Penn State Behrend, developed the Lace-N-Lock device, which allows people with mobility issues to tighten their shoes without having to bend down and actually touch the laces.

Math instructors attempt to solve high-school-to-college learning gap

Students who excel at algebra and calculus while in high school often struggle with the same concepts in college. A two-year study by faculty members at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, could help to close that "math gap."
