Vice Chancellor and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies
Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is seeking applications for the position of Vice Chancellor and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies.
Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies has responsibility for the strategy, planning, and administration of the research and graduate programs for Penn State Behrend. This individual works closely and collaboratively with the Chancellor and other leaders in the administration and leadership of Penn State Behrend and also serves on University-wide research leadership groups.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Promoting a climate of collegiality among the campus community that is supportive of all faculty, staff and students; Acting as a strategic advancer for Penn State Behrend, working closely with the Chancellor, College Leadership, faculty, and staff to advance Behrend strategic initiatives; Implementing strategies for achieving Behrend’s research goals by facilitating and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurial thinking; Collaborating with faculty, School Directors and the Chancellor to determine and advance the graduate program portfolio; Managing and overseeing the Penn State Behrend Grants and Contracts Office, the Director of Graduate Studies, and the college-level research and outreach centers that include Pennsylvania Sea Grant, Susan Hirt Hagen CORE, the Biomedical Translational Research Center, and the Advanced Polymer Engineering and Science Center; and advancing and supporting the diversity of the student body, the faculty, and staff of Penn State Behrend.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of funded research, with experience in federal and private sector-sponsored funding, specifically as principal investigator or project director, and knowledge of national funding issues and higher education policies. Candidates should possess a terminal degree and have administrative experience. Credentials appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of professor, preferably in a field of study offered at Penn State Behrend is desired. Salary is competitive.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
