July 10–12: Backwards Behrend Walk

Admissions Tour Guides

Are you ready for a challenge? Penn State Behrend invites former and current Lion Ambassadors, Lion Scouts, and Admissions Tour Guides to put on your favorite Behrend clothing and wake up your leg muscles.

Anytime during the weekend of July 10–12, we invite you to take part in #BackwardsBehrend from wherever you live. The challenge has three distances. You choose the right challenge for you:

  • Reed Union to Glenhill Farmhouse Distance: 0.1 miles
  • Lilley Library to Senat Hall Distance: 0.4 miles
  • Junker Center to the Otto Behrend Science Building Distance: 0.7 miles

Please be safe and walk in a traffic-free area (and we suggest a flat course), practice physical distancing, and follow your area’s restrictions.

Bonus entry if you capture a video (or a photo with a caption) of you reciting your favorite Behrend facts and/or memories.

Once completed, fill out your information on the completion page, what distance you completed, and your time to randomly be entered for a prize. Make sure to fill out your finishing time by July 17.

Upload your video or photo to social media (make sure it is public), tag us in your photo @BehrendAlum, and use the hashtag #BackwardsBehrend. Or email it to Kristen Comstock ’06 at [email protected] and you will get a second entry to win a prize.

Not So Frequently Asked Questions:

"Wait, you want me to walk backwards?!"
Yep!

"My little ones also want to participate. Can they?"
Awesome, you can enter your future Penn Staters’ times too for a chance for a prize. And any photo or video of them shared will also get them a second entry.

"What about furbabies?"
If you can get your pets to walk backwards, that is something we HAVE to see!

"My spouse has zero interest in helping film me walking backwards."
Yeah, same here. But that’s not a question.

"How do you expect me to walk backwards, talk, and record a video?"
That’s why we are calling this a challenge. But in all seriousness, please be safe and use your best judgment. Select a location that has zero vehicle traffic; preferably zero bicycle traffic; limited foot traffic; and zero obstacles to bump in to. This should be fun!
