Training Descriptions
Microsoft Excel Basic (Novice)
Learn to create and format spreadsheets, enter data, sort data, and become familiar with numerous Excel functions.
Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays, May 8–17, 2023
Times: 2:00–5:00 p.m.
Microsoft Excel Intermediate
Learn to work with ranges, use filtering techniques, “If Statements,” conditional formatting, templates, the macro recorder, track changes, and work with multi-sheet workbooks.
Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays, May 22, 24, June 5, and 7, 2023

Microsoft Excel Advanced
Learn to work with advanced filters, date/time functions, auditing, goal seek, pivot tables, VLOOKUP and INDEX functions, basic statistical analysis using the analysis toolpack, and dialog box controls.

Microsoft Access
Learn basic skills and concepts students need to use Microsoft Access productively and efficiently. After an introduction to the Access environment, students will learn how to plan databases, create tables, and work with forms and reports.

Fundamentals of Statistical Process Control
This course is designed to familiarize yourself with control charts and the statistical reasoning behind their use. The first two sessions will introduce basic probability, statistics, and the distributions involved in control charts. The last two sessions will introduce attribute and variable control charts, how to interpret in and out of control signals, and how the control limits are determined statistically.

Data Analytics
The purpose of data analytics for industry and business applications is to equip trainees with foundational, experimental, and applied data analytics skillsets geared towards creating new value through manufacturing or business operations optimizations.

Industry Projects
Penn State Behrend’s Industry 4.0 Center of Excellence (COE) will help companies aggregate meaningful data that can be used to improve production and manufacturing efficiency. The COE is part of Behrend’s Open Lab environment in which business and industry partners work with students and faculty on company-driven projects—in this case, to analyze and aggregate data to make informed decisions and improvements. The COE and integrated robotics technologies can help business and industry partners experience and visualize the real-world application of such technology in a variety of manufacturing and industry settings.
