Penn State Behrend's Liaison Committee to the University Commission for Women initiates, supports, and endorses activities that will benefit all individuals and especially women in the university.
The goals of Behrend's Liaison Committee are to:
- Support and disseminate the work of the University's Commission for Women
- Identify and advocate women's issues
- Develop and implement education programs on women's issues
- Act as a resource and a referral/information source for individual women regarding problems related to women's issues and well-being
Membership and Meetings
Penn State Behrend faculty and staff are welcome to join the committee and attend meetings. The committee meets in the Humanities and Social Sciences conference room in Kochel Center. If you would like to become a member or attend a meeting, please contact the committee chair, Sarah Whitney.
Woman of Impact Award
Former Director of Development and Alumni Relations Margie Taylor was honored on Monday, April 23, 2018, with the Behrend Commission for Women's 2018 Woman of Impact Award.
The award is given to a woman who has been significantly engaged with the college and who has made a meaningful contribution to society in her professional life.
Taylor retired from Penn State Behrend in 2016 and has more than thirty years of experience in philanthropy, economic development, and marketing. Her career includes work in higher education, economic development, and magazine and newspaper publishing. While at Behrend, she worked tirelessly to raise funds for student scholarships, department endowments, and stewardship. She is now a consultant, specializing in philanthropy and economic development.
