The college's web site has seen a number of improvements since its migration to the Drupal content management system. Here are just a few of the highlights:
Migration from Plone to Drupal provided:
- quicker load time of pages
- improved stability of the web site
- greater accessibility for users with disabilities
- improved back-up, security, and disaster recovery procedures
- compliant with IPV6
Redesign projects that have been completed:
- created a responsive design that is compatible with a variety of devices, including mobile devices and tablets
- added an image carousel on the home page to highlight key news and events
- created an enhanced faculty and staff directory (in collaboration with the schools) that allows searching for faculty/staff by name or department
- developed a method to post emergency alerts to home page
- configured the editor interface to make it easy for content editors to add content
Redesign projects in progress:
- captioning of videos to provide accessibility to the blind
- enhancing news/event/information sidebars to make it easier to post and to share content
Other:
- supporting the migration of outreach centers to the college’s server (ongoing)
- providing quicker turn-around time for new web forms (using Drupal WebForms)
- trained over 50 content editors so that they could edit their site using Drupal
Future projects:
- remediation of accessibility issues (template, tables, images, other documents, etc.)
