Jennifer Gustafson, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering at Penn State Behrend, has been named recipient of the 2022 Ralph Dorn Hetzel Memorial Award.
Penn State Behrend’s 2021-22 Speaker Series will conclude April 5 with a talk by Sarah Thomas, the first woman to work on an NFL officiating crew. Her hat, whistle and flag from Super Bowl LV are on display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Eleven Penn State engineering graduates will be honored on April 4 at the College of Engineering’s Outstanding Engineering Alumni Awards ceremony at Hyatt Place State College. Charlie Blenko, an undergraduate student majoring in civil engineering, will serve as the event’s emcee.
Penn State Behrend’s track and field teams opened the outdoor season at Carnegie Mellon on March 26. Three members of the men’s team qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships.
Penn State Global has announced the 2021-22 recipients of its annual awards that recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals and academic programs at Penn State who have helped to advance the University’s global engagement goals.
The Public Policy Fund at Penn State Behrend will host an online panel discussion on March 24 with faculty at the Kyiv School of Economics, including the school’s president, who continues to teach, even while his country is at war. Lena Surzhko Harned, assistant teaching professor of political science at Behrend, will moderate the program.
Recruiters from more than 130 companies and community organizations met with students at Penn State Behrend’s spring Career and Internship Fair. “The job market is positive right now,” said Kyle Danzey, director of career services at the college.
The March 14 STEAM Fair at Penn State Behrend featured 75 hands-on activity stations, with 3D doodle pens, a wind tunnel, remote-control LEGO robots and an Easter egg zipline. More than 1,300 people attended.
