The Next Step in STEM for High School Girls program is a three-day summer camp at Penn State Behrend that is offered to girls who have attended programs previously.
Area high school girls, in grades nine or ten, who participated in Wabtec or GE Girls, Math Options Career Day, or other Behrend K-12 outreach programs while in middle school are encouraged to apply.
Next Step in STEM participants work with faculty members and student researchers to explore a college laboratory environment and use materials to design, model, extrude, test, compress, and assemble projects related to lip gloss, sneakers, and plastic.
The program runs from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily. A nominal cost to participate includes lunch every day. The program has limited seating.
