Human health is more than a matter of anatomy and biology. There is also a wealth of other factors—including behavioral, psychological, sociocultural, and environmental—that influence illness and wellness.
With the B.S. in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State Behrend, you’ll study the science behind health, exploring the range of factors that impact health and disease as well as the strategies that can be used to address health-related problems. The degree will prepare you for work in a number of health-related settings and is also useful as a foundation for advanced education, including pre-professional training for health-care professions.
Why Penn State Behrend?
Behrend's Biobehavioral Health degree takes a truly interdisciplinary approach, meaning you'll study in both our School of Humanities and Social Sciences and our School of Science. You'll have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including psychology labs and an anatomy lab featuring virtual dissection tables.
Plus, like every student at Behrend, you’ll be part of our Open Lab—Behrend’s approach to learning that prioritizes hands-on, real-world experiences for our students. With the Biobehavioral Health degree, that might include participating in undergraduate research alongside our faculty members, working with community organizations through our outreach programs, or completing an internship or practical experience at one of the Erie region's many health-care facilities.
