The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team has built a 5-0 record, including wins this weekend against Penn State Altoona and Mt. Aloysius.
ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team has built a 5-0 record, including wins this weekend against Penn State Altoona and Mt. Aloysius. The Lions travel to Penn College on Sept. 20.
The most recent scores are:

- Penn State Behrend 6, Mt. Aloysius 0
- Penn State Behrend 7, Fredonia 0
Tamanna Sharma, a senior from Brampton, Canada, and Lexa Maloney, a freshman from Harborcreek, each won their singles matches against Penn State Altoona in tiebreakers. Sharma, who played at No. 1 singles, finished with scores of 4-6, 6-2 and 10-3. Maloney, who played at No. 5 singles, finished with scores of 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.
The men’s team lost to Baldwin Wallace, 0-7.
Behrend’s soccer, volleyball, cross country and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s soccer

Bryce Large, a sophomore from Charleroi, scored in the 86th minute against Grove City. Goalkeeper Anthony Scalise, a sophomore from North Huntingdon, made five saves.
Women’s soccer
- Penn State Behrend 0, Houghton 0
- Penn State Behrend 2, Allegheny 0
Bri Ross, a freshman from Springdale, scored her first collegiate goal in the 34th minute against Allegheny. Anna Steinbeck scored the second goal, off a corner kick.
Women’s volleyball
- Allegheny 3, Penn State Behrend 1
- Penn State Behrend 3, Waynesburg 0
- Penn State Behrend 3, Houghton 1
- Penn State Behrend 3, Fredonia 0

Cadence Jones, a sophomore from North East, had a career-best 29 kills against Houghton. She also had 11 digs. Brynne Smith, a sophomore from Butler, had 21 assists and 11 digs against Allegheny.
Men’s cross country
Alex Haskins, a senior from North East, won the Behrend Twilight Invitational, leading a field of 34 runners. He finished the 8K race in 27.35. Peyton Brewer, a junior from Erie, placed third, finishing in 28:06.
Women’s cross country
Kelsey Hanna, a freshman from Cranberry Township, won the Behrend Twilight Invitational, leading a field of 31 runners. She finished the 6K race in 25:05. Fiona Bunnell, a freshman from Philadelphia, placed fourth, finishing in 26:13.
Men’s water polo
- Navy 18, Penn State Behrend 8
- Long Island University 15, Penn State Behrend 10
- Penn State Behrend 16, Connecticut College 13
Nick Thompson, a sophomore from Hudsonville, Michigan, scored six goals against Connecticut College. Goalie Ethan Friedman, a senior from Valley Center, California, made 16 saves.
