FastStart Behrend Mentoring Program

FastStart Behrend Mentoring Program

Three students wearing fast start shirts and smilingFastStart Behrend is a mentoring program designed to help first-year students from diverse populations including African-American, American Indian, Asian-American/Pacific Islander, Latino/Hispanic, International Students, Students with Disabilities, GLBTQA students, or any other student who simply wants to get their college careers off to a “fast start.” The program matches first year students with a student mentor. Mentors, whom we call "F.R.I.E.N.D.S, strive to help new students learn about campus resources and other valuable information. They also share their experiences at Penn State Behrend from a student perspective.

The program is very flexible and participants set their own parameters for involvement. Many take advantage of scheduled programs and activities, on- or off-campus events, or just engage in spontaneous interaction. Some may choose to develop a close, long-term friendship; others may simply "be there" as needed. It’s up to you!

FastStart Behrend is sponsored by the Office of Educational Equity and Diversity Programs and the Penn State Behrend Alumni Society in partnership with the FastStart Program at University Park.

If you would like to participate in the program, either as a mentor or as a mentee, please contact
