The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team defeated Medaille and Penn State Altoona in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchups. The team carries a 13-5 conference record into its final home game of the regular season. Behrend’s volleyball, tennis, bowling, wrestling, and track and field teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights.
Penn State Behrend’s wrestling team avenged a one-point loss to Pitt-Bradford, winning the rematch 32-23. The Feb. 5 dual meet was the final varsity event in Behrend’s Erie Hall, which will be replaced by a larger fitness and recreation center later this year.
The Penn State Behrend men’s swimming and diving team completed its first undefeated dual-meet season with a 164-98 win over St. Vincent. The team will compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships on Feb. 19.
The Penn State Behrend men’s track and field team won five events at the Edinboro Invitational. Phoenix Myers, a junior from Erie, won the mile run, finishing in 4:27.44. Jenna Shelton, a senior from Cabot, placed second in the 800-meter women’s race, finishing in 2:20.57. She qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field meet.
Six former student-athletes – three of whom still hold program records – have been inducted into the Penn State Behrend Athletics Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony was held in McGarvey Commons, in the college’s Reed Union Building.
