The Behrend Medallion -- Penn State Behrend's foremost recognition of an individual who has brought honor to his or her profession and community -- was presented on May 23 to Thomas B. Champagne named Penn State Laureate

Betting on biodiesel

HERO BX, an Erie-based biodiesel company, has opened a $1 million research lab at Penn State Behrend. Students will work with the company's chemists to develop cleaner, cheaper fuels.

HERO BX ribbon cutting

A May 1 ribbon-cutting ceremony formally opened the $1 million HERO BX biodiesel lab at Penn State Behrend. Undergraduate students will work with HERO BX chemists to reduce the sulfur content in biodiesel feedstocks.
