Behrend literary series to feature five writers

The Smith Creative Writers Reading Series at Penn State Behrend will feature five writers this semester, with virtual gatherings on Zoom. Seniors in the college's Bachelor of Fine Arts program in creative writing also will read from their work.

The poet Lynn Emanuel will read from her work when she joins the Smith Creative Writers Reading Series at Penn State Behrend on Sept. 24. The 6 p.m. reading, which is free and open to the public, will be on Zoom.

Libraries Short Stories spring contest winners announced

The winning writers of Penn State University Libraries Short Stories’ “April Showers” spring 2020 contest have been announced. Representing six Penn State campuses, the latest writing contest challenged Penn State students, faculty and staff across the commonwealth to unleash their best original short stories or poetry on the theme of weather.

The winning writers of Penn State University Libraries Short Stories’ “Brunchin’ Around” fall 2019 contest have been announced. Representing seven Penn State campuses, the latest writing contest challenged Penn State students, faculty and staff across the commonwealth to unleash their best original short stories or poetry on the theme "Brunchin’ Around."

Penn State University Libraries’ Short Edition short story dispensers at Commonwealth Campus library locations, including, clockwise from left, John D. Fiction author Clare Beams to read at Penn State Behrend

Clare Beams will read stories from her collection “We Show What We Have Learned” on Thursday, Oct. 24, when the Creative Writers Reading Series returns to Penn State Behrend. Her 6 p.m. reading and the reception that will precede it are free and open to the public. Both events will be held in the Metzgar Center lobby.

Poet and author Doug Ramspeck to read at Penn State Behrend

Doug Ramspeck will read examples of his own ‘micro stories’ along with his poetry on Thursday, Sept. 26, when he visits Penn State Behrend as part of the college’s Creative Writers Reading Series. His 6 p.m. reading and the reception preceding it are free and open to the public.

Fall 2019 scholarly communications and copyright workshops announced

This fall’s scholarly communications and copyright workshop slate will include in-person workshops at Penn State Behrend, Penn State Scranton and Penn State Harrisburg, as well as a full set of Zoom workshops, including our popular trainings on complying with public access policies from federal agencies. There are specialized workshops for thesis and dissertation writers, instructional designers and scholarly authors.
