1. REMINDER ABOUT FALL 2021 COURSES AND DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

Students can begin to register for Fall 2021 courses in April. Here is a list of Political Science, Sociology, and Criminal Justice courses that we plan to offer at Penn State Behrend in Fall 2021.

2. MODEL UN TO PRESENT EVENT ON DR. SURZHKO-HARNED'S RESEARCH ON MARCH 29

The Penn State Behrend Model United Nations club will present a Behrend Polis event on Monday, March 29, at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Lena Surzhko-Harned, Assistant Teaching Professor of Political Science, to discuss her research about generational differences in European politics. The event will occur in Kochel 042 and can also be joined via Zoom.

3. FACULTY AND STUDENTS IN THE NEWS

  • Political Science Major Marissa Litzenberg presented at the Pi Sigma Alpha National Student Research Conference on her Schreyer Thesis, "The Forgotten Labor: Tracing United Kingdom Immigration Law and Sentiment from Enoch Powell to Brexit." She also will be presenting at the 2021 Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union with the EU Center of California run by Scripps College on April 9.
  • Dr. Molly Monahan Lang, Assistant Teaching Professor of Sociology, was interviewed on March 24 on WJET-TV in Erie about the Penn State Behrend Gender Conference.
  • Dr. Robert Speel, Associate Professor of Political Science, was interviewed this month for an article in the Times Higher Education magazine distributed in England about the Congress to Campus program run by the Washington, D.C., organization Former Members of Congress.
  • Dr. Lena Surzhko-Harned, Assistant Teaching Professor of Political Science, and Dr. Robert Speel earlier this month co-moderated an online Public Policy forum titled "COVID-19 Vaccination in Erie: How's it Going?" with a panel of community public health leaders.
