Darren Williams will discuss why rocks from space sometimes fall from the sky on Thursday, Oct. 17, when Open House Night in Astronomy returns to Penn State Behrend. His presentation, “Cosmic Calamity: Threat Of Asteroid and Comet Impacts on Earth,” will begin at 7:30 p.m. in room 101 of the Otto Behrend Science Building.

Penn State Behrend was recognized with the Commitment to Erie Award for large organizations during a Sept. 19 awards ceremony at the Bayfront Convention Center. The awards, given annually by the Erie Times-News, honor businesses and nonprofits for the commitments that they make to the Erie region.

The Cavani String Quartet will visit Penn State Behrend Monday, Sept. 23, to open the 30th season of Music at Noon: The Logan Series. The performance begins at noon in McGarvey Commons, in the college’s Reed Union Building.
