Biography
Dave Honard is a Research and Electronics Technician in the School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend. He graduated with an Electronics Technician Degree from DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, OH, where he also worked as a faculty assistant in 1984-85. Dave came to work at Penn State Behrend in 2001 with 16 years of experience. He first worked at DeVry and then as a service technician at American Sterilizer Company in Baton Rouge, LA, from 1985-1987. Dave then managed a Waffle House restaurant from 1987-1989 in Baton Rouge, LA. In 1989 he joined Erie Copy Products as a senior field engineer where he worked until 1997 when he joined International Paper's Erie Research Center as a research technician. When International Paper closed in 2000, Dave went to work at Calamari's Squid Row in Erie as a manager and then was hired by Housing and Food Services here at Penn State Behrend as a catering worker and was promoted to food service worker in 2004. In 2006, he joined the Athletics Department where he serviced equipment, performed building maintenance, and maintained the pool as well as other duties.
Dave's job responsibilities in the School of Engineering include:
- Performing regular and preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Troubleshooting, configuring, maintaining, and making simple repairs to instrumentation
- Making arrangements for major repairs
- Set-up of laboratory materials
- Assisting school faculty in instructional and research programs as assigned
- Monitoring inventory levels and ordering items for laboratory stockrooms and equipment supplies
- Overseeing, assisting, and checking the work of student employees in conducting maintenance of laboratory facilities
