School of Science

Science careers start here.

What’s the formula for academic success? Access to the faculty and research facilities of a global university + learning in smaller-sized classes = the Penn State Behrend School of Science.

Our students are given a hands-on, practical science education guided by experienced faculty. They also have opportunities to conduct substantive research experiences not typically offered at the undergraduate level.

Students learn about environmental science at Wintergreen Gorge, adjacent to campus.

The B.S. in Environmental Science is the only undergraduate degree at Penn State that uses the studies of biology, chemistry, and geoscience to examine the human-earth interface. The program trains you to understand environmental processes, to analyze and solve environmental problems, and to communicate to other scientists and the public the consequences of using the planet’s energy and natural resources.

The best way to see if any college is right for you is to visit campus. Penn State Behrend hosts one major Saturday visitation event each semester, plus individual appointments most weekdays. Can’t make it to campus? Take our virtual 360-degree tour.
