Biography

Dr. Jun Zhou is an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State Behrend. He received his B.S. in Thermal Engineering in 1994 from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, China and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2003 from the University of Missouri Rolla.

Dr. Zhou worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of Missouri Rolla for three years and as an assistant professor at Georgia Southern University for two years prior to his employment at Penn State Behrend. Dr. Zhou conducts active research in the areas of laser-based manufacturing and material processing, multi-scale modeling of energy transfer, and computational fluid dynamics. Some of the sponsors of his research program include General Motor Company, Boeing Company, ARL, and Intel. Dr. Zhou is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME, the Laser Institute of America LIA, and the American Welding Society AWS.
