Special programming on Oct. 1-3 will celebrate the college’s past, present and future, with activities for both alumni and current students and their families.
Parents, Families & Alumni Weekend, to be held Oct. 1-3 at Penn State Behrend, will be a celebration of the college’s past, present and future, with activities for both alumni and current students and their families.
“Parents & Families Weekend has long been a staple of the college’s fall programming, but several years ago, we expanded it to invite alumni and to make it more of a ‘homecoming’ type of event,” said Ralph Ford, chancellor of the college. “Fall is such a beautiful time here at Behrend, and it provides the perfect backdrop to invite all members of the Behrend community to come together and celebrate the college.”
Weekend attendees won’t be bored.
Friday evening will feature a family game show/trivia competition for cash prizes and cosmic mini golf. Saturday morning, attendees are encouraged to lace up their sneakers for a 5K (3.1-mile) run or walk through campus to benefit Magee-Womens Research Institute and Foundation.
Young people will feel right at home during the weekend. A family carnival will include games of chance, inflatables and crafts. Free family-friendly movies on Friday and Saturday night and planetarium shows will entertain the young and young at heart.
The Black School of Business will host an alumni reception at Voodoo Brewery Friday evening. For the Penn State football faithful, there will be a special watch party on Saturday.
A professional photographer will be on hand to snap group photos at the Lion Plaza and with the Nittany Lion mascot on Saturday. Glenhill Farmhouse, the former home of the Behrend family, will also be open for guided tours.
