Fiction writer Abby Frucht will read from her work at Penn State Behrend on Thursday, Sept. 5, as part of the Smith Creative Writers Reading Series.

This image from the environmental scanning electron microscope at Penn State Behrend shows plastic spheres at 100 nanometers. Researchers are using the image, and others like it, to study the lower limits of microplastics.

Xiaoshi Zhang, an assistant professor of plastics engineering technology at Penn State Behrend, is the lead researcher on a $100,000 study of the lower limits of microplastics. 

The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team won the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament, defeating nationally ranked John Carroll, 1-0.
