"Escape Room” was one of more than 100 courses offered this summer as part of Penn State Behrend's College for Kids program. Just as with large-scale escape rooms, the students were tasked with solving a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints and strategy. Once they had solved one puzzle, another would present itself.

Myron Jones, a pioneer in Erie’s radio and television broadcasting industry and a longtime friend and supporter of Penn State Behrend, died June 28 in Erie. In the late 1980s, Jones helped Penn State Behrend secure the license for the college’s commercial radio station, WPSE, and in 2014, he and his wife, Marlene, created the Myron Jones Fund for Broadcasting to support the station in perpetuity.

Rotko and Fellows were two of 50 seventh- and eighth-grade female students to attend the weeklong science, technology, engineering and math camp.

Held in late June, GE Girls @ Penn State Behrend is one of just twenty such programs of its kind in the world.
