UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The J. Jeffrey and Ann Marie Fox Graduate School at Penn State is now accepting nominations for the second round of Fox Endowment scholarships, created to support graduate students pursuing academic excellence and scholarly impact at the highest levels.
Established by J. Jeffrey and Ann Marie Fox, the Fox Endowment reflects the University’s aspiration to position Penn State as the preeminent institution for graduate education in the United States. In 2025, the graduate school awarded the first round of Fox scholarships to 18 graduate students.
“The scholarships invest directly in graduate students at important moments in their academic journeys, whether they are completing a dissertation, presenting research at a major conference or preparing for the next stage of their careers,” said Levon T. Esters, vice provost for graduate education and dean of the Fox Graduate School.
Two types of scholarships will be awarded, Fox Degree Completion Awards and Fox Scholarly and Professional Impact Awards.
Degree Completion Awards provide up to $10,000 to doctoral candidates in the dissertation or final research phase, or master's students completing a thesis or capstone project. These awards are designed to accelerate degree completion at a critical academic juncture where focused financial support has a direct impact on time-to-degree.
Fox Scholarly and Professional Impact Awards provide up to $10,000 to master's or doctoral students pursuing high-impact scholarly, research or professional activities, such as conference presentations, fieldwork or other endeavors that materially advance a student's academic or career trajectory.
All nominations must be submitted through the student's academic college or program, following an internal review and endorsement process. Individual submissions not endorsed by a college will not be reviewed.
To be eligible, nominees must be currently enrolled graduate students in the Fox Graduate School who are in good academic standing and are not full-time employees of Penn State.
Faculty members interested in nominating students should visit the Fox Scholarships Award Nominations for the full guidelines. Students interested in being considered should speak with their faculty advisor or graduate program chair about the internal nomination process.
