Biography
Dr. Erin Grimm’s professional career spans over 20 years of educational and leadership experiences that encompass private, public, and charter schools within Western Pennsylvania. Presently, Dr. Grimm is employed at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. She serves the 42 school districts within Allegheny County as the IDEA Training and Consultation Coordinator delivering state and federal directed content as it pertains to effective practices on Secondary Transition and special education compliance. While fulfilling her professional duties at the AIU, Erin successfully facilitates coordination of the Allegheny County school districts for National Disability Mentoring Day; and has served as the IU facilitator for the Transition Coordinating Council of Allegheny County & City of Pittsburgh.
Academically, Erin received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary & Special Education from Slippery Rock University as well as her master’s degree in educational administration & School Leadership from Duquesne University. Additionally, she obtained her Supervisor of Special Education and Principal Certifications from Duquesne as well as her Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility. In 2015, Erin successfully defended her dissertation, Non-Traditional Therapeutic Interventions for At-Risk Youth & Students with Complex Needs- Equine Therapy, at Duquesne University receiving her doctorate in Educational Administration & School Leadership. Due to her passion and resourcefulness, Dr. Grimm has been afforded the opportunity over the past decade to present at the local, state, and national level on topics ranging from successful practices on secondary transition, financial literacy, family engagement, improving self-determination & executive functioning skills of all students, understanding the connection from school to the community.
Erin is an avid equestrian, competing in many disciplines over the past 35 years, a die-hard Notre Dame football fan and enjoys spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Jax (Welsh Pembroke Corgi).
