Dr. Soledad Traverso received her B.A. in Spanish Literature and Linguistic in 1981 from Universidad de Antofagasta, Chile, and the Ph.D. (1996) in Latin American Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Traverso taught at Penn State Behrend from 1996 until her retirement in 2020.

Research Interests: Studies on the literary work of the Chilean writer Juan Emar (1893-1964), and studies on Latin American Literature written by women: Cristina Peri-Rossi, Luisa Valenzuela, Elizabeth Subercaseaux, Carla Guelfenbein, Elsa Osorio, among others.
