should the cathedral appear when you do not expect it,
enter through the window that features an old saint
turning the pages of an even older book.
once inside,
bless your silence with the water
that has been pulled from the well of a local graveyard,
& do not be surprised if you are soon joined by the ghosts
of a world you thought only existed in dreams.
if there are birds in the rafters,
be sure to include them in the first prayer you whisper.
& if there are not,
it simply means that they knew
you were ready to begin without them.
