The room is called Oliver’s – a nod to Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, whose victory in the Battle of Lake Erie is honored in each of the named residence halls at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. It opened for student use on Thursday, Jan. 10.
All campus residents will have access to the lounge, which has Wi-Fi, arcade games and a wall-sized projection screen connected to a Blu-ray player. A vending area and restrooms also are included.
“It’s a really nice space,” said Breanne Bachovchin, a senior from Belle Vernon and a resident assistant in Senat Hall. “It’s neat, how it’s all Penn State-themed.”
Oliver’s will be open Sundays through Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to midnight and Thursdays through Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.
