Penn State Behrend is included on a new list of educators who provide the most supportive academic environment for America’s service members, veterans and military spouses.
The 2017 compilation of Military Friendly Schools was created by Victory Media, publisher of GI Jobs magazine. Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. More than 1,600 schools participated in the 2017 survey and 1,160 were awarded the designation.
“Penn State Behrend is committed to making sure that our military families find the support they need,” Dr. Mary-Ellen Madigan, senior director of enrollment management, said. “We have comprehensive services for them, including a one-stop office that offers complete admissions, financial aid and scheduling assistance. We also have a full-time financial aid counselor who can help veterans maximize the benefits they’ve earned and make them aware of services they might not know about, such as VA-paid tutoring.”
Penn State Behrend will be included in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools, special education issues of G .I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazines, and on militaryfriendly.com. For additional information about veterans services at the college, visit behrend.psu.edu/veterans.
