The LEADS program is designed for high school juniors who have demonstrated strong academic potential and who bring diverse experiences and perspectives to the college community.

Please write an essay that explains why you are a good fit for the LEADS program. In your response, be sure to address the following:

  • Your academic preparation, including the rigor of your high school course schedule and your commitment to academic success
  • How you meet at least one of the LEADS eligibility criteria (first-generation college student, from a background or experience underrepresented in college, and/or financial need)
  • How your experiences, challenges, or background have shaped your educational goals and motivation to pursue college

Use specific examples to help us understand your journey, your strengths, and how participation in LEADS would support your future goals.

Include all relevant dates and vacation plans that may coincide with the program. All absences will be referred to the program committee for review and approval.
