Link Tips

Links for Online and Printed Documents

Generally, when you create a link on a web page, the best practice is to use link text rather than spelling out the URL.  Example:  Use the link text of Penn State instead of spelling it out as https://psu.edu.

But how should you handle links if you create a document (such as Word) that will be available both online and in print?  If you simply use link text, the URL is not visible to the person reading the printed document.  In such a case, you can create a single link text that also includes the URL.  Example:  Penn State (https://psu.edu).
