The National Science Foundation has awarded more than $1 million to Courtney Nagle, associate professor of mathematics education at Penn State Behrend, to combat the shortage of math teachers in four Erie County school districts.
Members of Penn State Behrend's SAE Supermileage team worked late into the night before the track competition, trying to repair problems with the vehicle's starter motor and steering system.
A Penn State Behrend team won the SAE International Supermileage Challenge, traveling 2,420 miles on a single gallon of gas. The team also won the event in 2018.
John Roth, professor of engineering at Penn State Behrend, was recently recognized with a 2019 George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching. The Smith Carillon Concert Series at Penn State Behrend will begin Thursday, July 11, with a performance from Carl Van Eyndhoven, Carillonneur of the Cities of Tilburg (the Netherlands) and Mol (Belgium). All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Free hot dogs and snacks will be served during the performances.
In April, Behrend Baseball player Scott Sada hit his 82nd double against Medaille to become the NCAA Division III all-time leader in career doubles. He would add eight more before the season ended to finish his NCAA career with a total of 90.
