Myron Jones, a pioneer in Erie’s radio and television broadcasting industry and a longtime friend and supporter of Penn State Behrend, died June 28 in Erie. In the late 1980s, Jones helped Penn State Behrend secure the license for the college’s commercial radio station, WPSE, and in 2014, he and his wife, Marlene, created the Myron Jones Fund for Broadcasting to support the station in perpetuity.

Sydney Rotko, at left, and Sammy Fellows, both students in the General McLane School District, work on programming the alligator they created as part of GE Girls @ Penn State Behrend. Rotko and Fellows were two of 50 seventh- and eighth-grade female students to attend the weeklong science, technology, engineering and math camp.

Held in late June, GE Girls @ Penn State Behrend is one of just twenty such programs of its kind in the world.

Held in late June, GE Girls @ Penn State Behrend is one of just 20 such programs of its kind in the world. Fifty seventh- and eighth-grade female students attended the weeklong science, technology, engineering and math camp where they were paired with female mentors from GE Transportation.
