The regional Science Olympiad includes competitions for both middle- and high-school students. North East High School won the upper bracket, advancing to the state tournament at Juniata College. Laurel Junior High School won the lower division.
More than 400 students from 34 area schools participated in the 2019 regional Science Olympiad at Penn State Behrend. The competition tested their knowledge of chemistry, forensics, meterology, optics and robotics.
