McDowell High School student Samantha Dixon, center, attempts to get her five-cent battery to conduct. Dixon was one of 150 high school girls who attended Women In Engineering Day Nov. 3 at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has again earned Tree Campus USA recognition. The college also is an arboretum, with more than 200 tree species on a 700-acre campus.

Harun Mehmedinovic, director of photography for HBO, and Gavin Heffernan, a filmmaker and screenwriter for National Geographic, CBS, and USA Today, will discuss SKYGLOW, their ongoing crowdfunding project which explores light pollution, when they visit Penn State Behrend on Monday, Nov. 13.

Behrend Art Show

The college’s fourth annual Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Art Show opens Wednesday, Nov. 15, with a “Meet the Artists” reception in the Lilley Library gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. The show features works by faculty and staff members from several departments of the college. For the first time, this year’s show also will include submissions from Penn State Behrend alumni.
