Alyssa Belczyk, of Erie, received the John and Jane Herbert Undergraduate Research Award at Penn State Behrend's annual Honors and Awards Convocation. The award recognizes students whose research demonstrates scholarly merit and has the potential to expand their undergraduate educational experience.
Alex Cotton, a senior from Saxonburg, represented Penn State Behrend at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He placed 19th in the shot put.
Charlie Motter, a sophomore from Oil City, represented Penn State Behrend at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He placed 18th in the javelin event.
Lee Qualk, a freshman from Coal Center, represented Penn State Behrend at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He placed 15th in the long jump.
Larry Neizmik and his wife, Charlotte, have added $100,000 to the Larry D. Neizmik and Charlotte A. Neizmik Scholarship for Economics at Penn State Behrend.
Retired Penn State Behrend faculty member Ron DelPorto made an additional gift to activate the Ronald W. and Carole R. DelPorto Scholarship in Memory of Donald Yusz and Christopher DelPorto. The new funding builds on an estate gift DelPorto and his late wife established in 2020.
New giving has enhanced two endowed scholarships at Penn State Behrend, making funding available to more students. The scholarships will directly benefit students while reinforcing Penn State's commitment to access, affordability and student success.
“Today is a celebration,” Tiffany Beers, vice president of enterprise innovation at VF Corp., told Penn State Behrend's spring 2026 graduates. “Tomorrow is where it gets real.”
Penn State Behrend awarded nearly 650 undergraduate and graduate degrees at the college’s spring commencement program, held May 8 at Erie Insurance Arena.
