Retired after a long career as a project manager and an engineering manager. As an undergraduate, Anne attended Behrend for two years before finishing her degree at University Park. She earned her M.B.A. at Penn State Behrend in 1995 and is a frequent volunteer at STEM Outreach Events at the college.
About her job: I spent many years in the engineering department at GE Transportation, leading many teams. I retired from that role and joined Erie Insurance as a senior project manager in the IT department. I am now retired and spend my time volunteering.
Hometown: I'm an Erie native and currently reside in Edinboro.
Family: I'm recently married to Penn State grad Jim Piersol and have two stepsons; James (Penn State '24) and Matthew (Alabama '27).
Why she joined the WEC board: I want to help other women succeed, and I like to stay involved in the community.
Most important traits for a professional woman to possess: Confidence. Don't be shy about aggressively going after whatever it is that you want.
Lake life: My favorite way to relax is boating with my husband. We have a 36’ Tiara motor yacht and we named it JimAnneye Dream.e. (Yes, that’s the right spelling and it’s complicated as to why we named it that way.) We like to cook dinner on the boat and watch the sun set.
What you’d be surprised to know about her: I have a 50-Ton Captain’s License, which means I can captain a commercial boat. I got it because one day, I would like to take people out on boat touring trips in Florida. It's also useful to transfer boats from one location to another in the area.
She bleeds blue: I love Penn State and Penn State football games.
Most interesting place she’s ever visited: Shanghai, China.
