The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team scored a season-high seven goals against Mt. Aloysius on Oct.1.

ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team scored a season-high seven goals against Mt. Aloysius on Oct.1. Trinity Prestash, a sophomore from Phillipsburg, and Mia Zec, a junior from Cranberry Township, each scored two.

Behrend’s volleyball, cross country, tennis and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

 

Men’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 1, Mt. Aloysius 1

John Carroll 1, Penn State Behrend 0

Sean Abraham scored in the 32nd minute against Mt. Aloysius. Goalkeeper Sam York, a senior from Akron, Ohio, made four saves against Mt. Aloysius and added six more — one of them on a penalty kick — against John Carroll.

 

Women’s soccer

William Smith 6, Penn State Behrend 0

Penn State Behrend 7, Mt. Aloysius 2

John Carroll 2, Penn State Behrend 1

Karla Ochoa, a senior from Edinburg, Texas, scored on a shot to the upper right corner at 20:51 in the game against John Carroll. Goalkeeper Morgan Harding, a senior from Pittsburgh, made a season-high 10 saves against William Smith, the team’s fourth ranked opponent this season.

 

Women’s volleyball

John Carroll 3, Penn State Behrend 1

The Lions won the first set. Brooke Joncas, a senior from Corry, led the team with 15 kills and three aces. Meg Goodsel, a junior from Corry, had 20 assists.

 

Men’s cross country

30th (of 36 teams) at the NCAA Division III pre-meet

Kody Klein, a senior from Cranberry Township, finished the 8K race in 27:10.2. He placed 157th in a field of 329 runners. Aidan Domencic, a senior from Cranberry Township, finished in 27:56.9. He placed 207th.

 

Women’s cross country

28th (of 36 teams) at the NCAA Division III pre-meet

Savanna Carr, a senior from Franklin, finished the 6K race in 23:57.5. She placed 95th in a field of 319 runners.

 

Men’s tennis

Penn State Behrend 9, Pitt-Bradford 0

Penn State Behrend 9, Pitt-Bradford 0

Ritvik Nadikude, a freshman from Hyderabad, India, and Max Lu, a senior from Plum, each won four matches – two as singles players, and two more in doubles play.

 

Women’s tennis

Penn State Behrend 9, Pitt-Bradford 0

Penn State Behrend 9, Pitt-Bradford 0

Penn State Behrend 9, La Roche 0

The Lions capped regular-season play with a two-match sweep of Pitt-Bradford. Against La Roche, the team did not give up a single set point.

 

Men’s water polo

Mercyhurst 16, Penn State Behrend 11

Washington & Jefferson 14, Penn State Behrend 6

Salem 22, Penn State Behrend 18

Gannon 21, Penn State Behrend 11

Jack Holl, a sophomore from Greenwich, Connecticut, scored six goals against Mercyhurst. He scored four more against Salem.
