Penn State Behrend swimmers set 15 team records and one pool record in a dual meet at Nazareth on Jan. 27. The men’s team set 11 records. The women’s team posted five record times.
Behrend’s basketball, volleyball, track and field, wrestling and bowling teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s basketball
- Penn State Behrend 86, Mount Aloysius 75
- Penn State Behrend 84, Carlow 49
Tommy DiRienzo, a senior from Pittsburgh, scored 30 points against Mount Aloysius. He also grabbed six rebounds. Matthew McDonough, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, scored 26 points against Carlow.
Women’s basketball
- Penn State Behrend 82, Mount Aloysius 66
- Penn State Behrend 98, Carlow 53
Morgan Altavilla, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, scored a career-high 36 points against Mount Aloysius. Rachel Majewski, a junior from Erie, scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Carlow.
Men’s track and field
The 4x2 relay team – Brandon Konieczki, Jake Egizio, Dominic Marino and Brendan Luce – won at the Jim Wuske Invite, finishing in 1:33.71. Egizio, a freshman from Canonsburg, placed second in the 200-yard dash, finishing in 22.74.
Women’s track and field
The 4x2 relay team – Madison Kappeler, Ivy Laffan, Victoria Dietrich and Peyton Grimm – placed second at the Jim Wuske Invite, finishing in 1:52.56.

- Baldwin Wallace 3, Penn State Behrend 2
- St. John Fisher 3, Penn State Behrend 0

Daniel Easly, a sophomore from Erie, had 11 kills, nine digs and four blocks against Baldwin Wallace. Alex Jackson, a senior from Cochranton, had 22 assists against Houghton.
Men’s swimming and diving
- Penn State Behrend 186, Nazareth 102
Tim Compton, a junior from Pittsburgh, set four team records and one pool record at Nazareth. He won the 400 free in 4:06.51. He also set records in the 200 free, the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay.
Women’s swimming and diving
- Nazareth 178, Penn State Behrend 118
Camryn Watters, a freshman from Greensburg, set four team records at Nazareth. She won the 100 backstroke, finishing in 1:09.11. She also had record times in the 50 backstroke, the 200 medley relay, and the 800 free relay.
Wrestling
- Penn State Behrend 40, Ohio Wesleyan 7
Martin Ohlsson, a freshman from Westfield, New York, won by pin in just 20 seconds. He wrestles in the 157-pound weight class. Cole Neil, a freshman from Saint Marys, won by pin in the 133-pound bout.
Women’s bowling
- D’Youville 916, Penn State Behrend 866
- D’Youville 847, Penn State Behrend 780
- D’Youville 885, Penn State Behrend 812
Katy Richardson, a junior from Hamburg, New York, bowled a team-high 212 in the first game. Sidney Batsa, a junior from Latrobe, bowled a 199 in the third game.
