As an adult learner, your life experiences, both work and personal, have shaped who you are and what you know. At Penn State Behrend, you might be able to use that prior experience to waive some of the University’s General Education requirements.
Penn State’s Experiential Learning Assessment allows qualifying adult learners—as well as veterans and transfer students—to request that their relevant prior experiences in professional and personal settings be used to waive the General Education Integrative Studies requirement.
Who is eligible for the Experiential Learning Assessment?
To be eligible, undergraduate students must:
- Be enrolled in a Penn State Behrend major or pre-major
- Be an adult or veteran student, as noted in LionPATH, or meet the criteria to be admitted as a transfer student.
- Have at least 6 unused credits of General Education coursework
- Submit an Experiential Learning Assessment application, including a reflection summary, to be evaluated by a team of General Education Faculty Scholars at the University
