Behrend men's soccer team scores four on Muskingum

ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team scored four unanswered goals on Muskingum at the Franciscan Classic on Sept. 8. The Lions host Grove City on Sept. 13.

Behrend’s volleyball, tennis and golf teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Men’s soccer

Franciscan 3, Penn State Behrend 0

Penn State Behrend 4, Muskingum 0

Jonathan Swann, a senior from Allison Park, scored twice against Muskingum — once in the 28th minute and again in the 53rd.

Women’s soccer

Rochester Institute of Technology 2, Penn State Behrend 0

Penn State Behrend 2, Nazareth 1

Trinity Prestash, a junior from Philipsburg, scored in the 51st minute against Nazareth. Goalkeeper Riley Morningstar, a sophomore from North Huntingdon, made six saves.

Women’s volleyball

Penn State Behrend 3, Utica 0

Penn State Behrend 3, Westminster 1

Penn State Behrend 3, Fredonia 0

Grove City 3, Penn State Behrend 0

Hannah Phillips, a senior from Pittsburgh, had 22 kills and 21 digs against Westminster. Meg Goodsel, a senior from Corry, had 47 assists and 18 digs.

Women’s tennis

Westminster 7, Penn State Behrend 2

Penn State Behrend 6, Geneva 3

Erica Jasinski, a senior from Fairview, won at No. 1 singles against both Westminster and Geneva. She and partner Lindsey Kerlin, a freshman from Clearfield, also won both matches at No. 1 doubles.

Men’s golf

Fourth (of eight teams) on day one of the St. John Fisher Invitational

Jared Franc, a junior from Erie, was tied for ninth in a field of 39 golfers after the first day of the St. John Fisher Invitational. He shot a 70 in the first round and an 83 in the second.
