ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s baseball team overpowered Franciscan in a March 20 doubleheader, winning 13-1 and 25-3. In the nightcap, the Lions scored 10 runs on 10 hits in two innings.
Behrend’s softball, volleyball, tennis and bowling teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Baseball

Mac Ciocco, a junior from Venetia, batted six-for-seven in the doubleheader against Franciscan. He hit three doubles and drove in five runs.
Softball
Penn State Behrend 7, Marietta 2
Penn State Behrend 6, Marietta 0
Kayla Lindberg, a senior from Austinburg, Ohio, threw a six-hit shutout in the second game against Marietta. She struck out six batters. Maria Jones, a senior from Wilcox, had three hits, including a double and a triple.
Men’s volleyball
St. Vincent 3, Penn State Behrend 0
Kyle Hoffman, a sophomore from Carlton, recorded 13 kills and 13 digs. Setter Alex Jackson, a senior from Cochranton, had 33 assists. He now has more than 2,000 assists in his collegiate career.
Men’s tennis
Penn State Behrend 9, Pitt-Greensburg 0
Jonathon Laier, a junior from Lansing, Michigan, won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Akash Sangha, a freshman from Milton, Ontario, won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. The two combined for a win at No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Women’s bowling

New Jersey City 4, Penn State Behrend 3 (Baker format, best-of-seven)
The Lions exited the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships with a loss to New Jersey City. Bella Pilyih, a senior from Pittsburgh, led the team with a season-high 215. She was earned AMCC All-Tournament honors.
