Dr. Ozgun Demirag meets with a Penn State Behrend MBA student.

Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)

Be in demand with an MBA from Penn State Behrend. Our 30-credit hybrid program offers you the flexibility to learn within an active lifestyle by blending online learning with monthly in-person class meetings, offered in either Erie or the Pittsburgh metro area.

Why earn an MBA? An MBA can increase your job opportunities, enable your career advancement, enhance your earning potential, and strengthen your skillset to help you stand out from the crowd.

Behrend's MBA program holds a STEM designation, reflecting its emphasis on analytical skills, technology integration, and quantitative business strategies. That foundation, combined with skills in leadership, problem-solving, and critical-thinking, gives you the tools you need to bridge technical expertise with strategic leadership in modern business environments.

The next step in your professional growth story starts here.

Why Penn State Behrend?

Behrend’s hybrid MBA program offers you flexibility, expertise, value, and efficiency.

Flexibility: The program can be completed in one year if pursued on a full-time basis, or in two years (or at your own pace) on a part-time basis. You can choose to attend monthly in-person meetings at either the Behrend campus in in Erie or at our Pittsburgh satellite location in Cranberry Township.

Expertise: Regardless of whether you choose Erie or Pittsburgh, the faculty and curriculum is the same, emphasizing the continual application of best practices, applied research, and forward-thinking ideas. Our MBA faculty bring extensive business experience into the classroom, which means you can expect a variety of real-world projects and simulations, case studies, and data-driven decision-making exercises in your coursework.

Value: You'll earn a prestigious Penn State degree while studying in the AACSB-accredited Black School of Business, which is regularly recognized as one of the country’s top business schools by U.S. News & World Report and ranked in the top 10% of colleges in the U.S. for return on investment. As a graduate of Penn State, you’ll join one of the largest alumni networks in the world.

Efficiency: The Behrend MBA program offers not only value but also efficiency. While many MBA programs require 45 or more credits, our 30-credit curriculum allows you to earn your degree faster and at a lower cost. Unlike other programs that require you to take additional classes on top of the 30-credit degree program, Behrend’s MBA program is really just 30 credits, thanks to the option to fulfill pre-enrollment competencies through the use of online learning modules.

Hybrid MBA Advantages

The hybrid MBA program at Penn State Behrend offers you the best of two worlds—the convenience and flexibility of a high-quality online learning blended with benefits of in-person instruction.

Much of the program’s content is delivered online, allowing you to work at your own pace.

Required in-class meetings are held one night per month, giving you direct access to faculty and fellow students, as well as opportunities for engagement, team-building, and enhanced professional networking.

This hybrid approach also meets the requirements for international students to join our program.

Add a Specialization

It’s easy to personalize your MBA by adding a graduate certificate.

Our graduate certificates in Organizational Leadership, Financial Analysis, and Financial Engineering can be completed without adding any additional credits to the MBA degree. The graduate certificate in Project Management can be completed by adding just one more course to the MBA degree.

You can work with your academic adviser to choose electives to satisfy the requirements of the graduate certificates.

Brent Bowman

I enrolled in the Behrend program for both the prestige of the Penn State brand and the flexibility that the program offers. As a working professional with a family, flexibility and affordability were key for me. The asynchronous format allowed me to plan around my work and family schedules to complete my work at a pace that worked for me. The in-class sessions allowed for deeper, focused discussions on key course topics, which I found to be efficient and effective in learning important concepts.
